Q: What are the benefits of lithium iron phosphate batteries?

A: Lithium iron phosphate batteries are safer, more durable, charge more efficiently, and offer a longer lifespan than traditional lead-acid batteries. At Expion360, we use the gold standard in lithium chemistry, LiFePO4, which ensures peak performance in all of our products.

Q: Do your batteries offer water and weather resistance?

A: Expion360 Group 24 and Group 27 battery enclosures possess an IP66 (ingress protection) rating. This signifies that they are safeguarded against complete dust penetration (indicated by the first digit = 6) and high-pressure water jets coming from any direction (indicated by the second digit = 6). It's important to note that while these batteries are well-protected against water and dust, they are not designed for complete submersion in liquid.

Q: Will leaving my battery on the charger during a cold snap on vacation damage it?

A: If the temperature drops too low or rises excessively while the battery is in the charging or discharging process, our Battery Management System (BMS) will automatically disconnect the battery to safeguard it. Once the temperature returns to the normal operating range, the BMS will reset the battery, ensuring its safety and proper function.

Q: I've come across information suggesting that discharging my batteries below 50% state of charge (SOC) could result in permanent damage. Is this accurate?

A: Expion360 lithium iron phosphate batteries are designed to be safely discharged down to 9.5Vdc, which corresponds to utilizing 100% of their amp hour rating without causing any lasting harm. Furthermore, by adjusting your charging and discharging practices to utilize only 80% of the depth of discharge, you can extend the total number of available life cycles for your batteries.

Q:  Is there any limit to how many batteries I can put in my battery bank?

A: You can put up to four batteries in series configurations. If wired correctly, there’s theoretically no limit to parallel connections, however we recommend limiting the number to a maximum of 4 batteries in parallel per string of batteries. Note: It’s critical that you don’t mix batteries of different ages, sizes, or manufacturers in a given battery bank.
